Jupiter999 viewsOn 1/23/2015 the shadows of Io, Callisto, and Europa were visible from Earth as they transit across Jupiter. This photo shows Io's shadow (someone correct me if I am wrong) as it transited across the gas giant. The image consist of 2,000 video frames taken with an Imaging Source camera and a Meade 8" SCT mounted on a Celestron CGEM mount. Frames were stacked with Registax6 and processed with PhotoShop CS6 and Steve's touch.

Messier 78 and neighbors1005 viewsMessier 78 is a diffuse reflection nebula located in the constellation of Orion. The starlight bounces off the dust particles in the nebula which create the bright reflection areas. The dark area that separates M78 from NGC 2067 consist of obscuring dust that blocks the light from background stars. The image consist of over 10 hours of data (128 x 5min exposures) taken with a Canon 60Da camera, TPO RC telescope on a Celestron CGEM mount. Stacked with nebulosity and processed with Photo Shop CS6.

NGC 6995 and NGC 6992 (The Eastern Veil Nebula)936 viewsNGC 6995 / NGC 6992 (Eastern Veil Nebula) form part of the Cygnus loop a supernova remnant in the constellation of Cygnus. Other objects that form part of the Cygnus loop, not visible in this image, are NGC 6960 and NGC 6979. The cloud of ionized gas and dust covers an area of 3 degrees (around 6 times the size of the full moon) and continues to expand. The image consist of 44 x 300sec exposures taken with a QHY10 CCD camera and Orion 80mm refractor mounted on a Celestron CGEM mount.

IC2177 and NGC2327990 viewsIC2177 is a large diffuse nebula near the constellations of Monoceros and Canis Major. The sweeping arc forms the seagull’s wings while the head consist of NGC 2327 (also call the Parrot nebula). This image consist of 80 x 300sec images taken with a Canon 60Da, Orion ED80T refractor, and a Celestron CGEM Mount. Stacked in Nebulosity and processed with PhotoShop CS6

Orion Nebula (M42)980 viewsThe Orion Nebula (M42) is a diffuse nebula located in constellation of Orion. It is one of the most popular objects in the night sky and is visible with the naked eye from a dark location. Near the center you will find the Trapezium (the small group of four stars) containing some of the youngest stars in the Milky Way. Can you find the wolf face near the Trapezium? This image consist of 20 x 30 sec, 10 x 60sec, 5 x 180sec, and 5 x 300 sec images taken with a QHY-10 CCD camera, TPO RC telescope, and Celestron CGEM mount. Images were stacked in Nebulosity and processed in Photoshop CS6 utilizing layer masks to maintain the detail around the Trapezium.

Jupiter with Io and Europa1171 viewsJupiter was at opposition on Feb 6, 2015. In this image Jupiter is framed by its moon Io (L) and Europa (R). Image taken with a Celestron 6"SCT at f25 using an Imaging Source 21AU618 color camera. Stack of approx 2700 images using Registax 5.1, Lucy Richardson deconvolution, and Photoshop 7.0.1.

IC443 (Jellyfish Nebula)1025 viewsIC443 (Jellyfish Nebula) is the supernova remnant of a massive star that exploded thousands of years ago. The nebula is located around 5,000 light years away from Earth in the constellation of Gemini. This image consist of 80 x 5min exposures taken with a Canon 60Da camera, Orion ED80T refractor, and a Celestron CGEM mount.

Andromeda Galaxy1136 viewsThe Andromeda Galaxy (M31) located around 2.5 million light years from Earth is estimated to be the largest galaxy of our local group. This photo also shows Andromeda’s satellite galaxies M32 (NGC 221), left center, and M110 (NGC 205) to the lower right. This image consist of 4 hours of imaging with a Canon 60Da connected to an Orion 80mm refractor mounted on a Celestron CGEM. Stacked with Nebulosity 3.0 and processed with PhotoShop CS6
