IC_1805__Heart_11_12_10_7min_TMO_Ha_mono.jpg
Heart Nebula1247 viewsThe Heart Nebula, IC 1805, Sh2-190, lies some 7500 light years away from Earth and is located in the Perseus arm of the Galaxy in the constellation Cassiopeia. This is an emission nebula showing glowing gas and darker dust lanes. The open cluster of stars near the center known as Melotte 15 illuminates the nebula. This is a single 7min exposure thru an FSQ106/Ha filter from Tzec Maun Observatory in Mayhill NM.

IC 18051276 viewsIC 1805 in Cassiopeia. The loose open cluster in the center of IC 1805 is Melotte 15. A 3-minute exposure taken with a Takahashi Epsilon 180 f2.8 with a Canon 20Da DSLR.

Heart Nebula (IC 1805)849 viewsThe Heart nebula (IC1805), an emission nebula is located in the Perseus arm of our galaxy. The nebula spans around 4 times the diameter of the full moon. It is estimated to be 7,500 light-years away from our planet. This photo consist of 3 hours of exposure (3 and 5 min exposures) taken with a Canon 60Da thru an Orion 80mm telescope on a Celestron CG-5. Images were stacked with Nebulosity and processed with PhotoShop CS6.

The IC 1805 region846 views IC 1805 is a bright heart-shaped emission nebula in the constellation Cassiopeia. The open cluster in the center of IC 1805 is Melotte 15 that contains several extremely large stars whose intense radiation ionizes the hydrogen gas in the region. To the lower left of IC 1805 is the bright nebula NGC 896. To the mid-right of IC 1805 is the open cluster NGC 1027. The image encompasses a vast region with the image scale being approximately 3.1 x 2 degrees.
The image was taken with a Canon 60Da DSLR (ISO 800) and a Takahashi FSQ 106ED with focal reducer (f/3.6; focal length = 385 mm) on an Astro-Physics 1200 mount. Image was a total of 6 hours 15 minutes exposure [75 x 300 sec lights (guided with a Takahashi Mewlon 300/SBIG ST-i); 12 darks; 128 bias; 64 flats]. Images selected (SubframeSelector), calibrated (using a “superbias” master), registered, integrated, and processed in PixInsight 1.8.3.1115.
IC_1848_(Soul_Nebula).jpg
The Soul Nebula (IC 1848)754 viewsIC 1848 the Soul Nebula, (IC 1805’s galactic neighbor) is a large emission nebula in the constellation of Cassiopeia. The image consist of 92 x 5min exposures with a Canon 60Da and Orion ED80T on a Celestron CGM mount.
IC_896.jpg
NGC 896791 viewsNGC 896 a star forming region in the constellation of Cassiopeia is located adjacent the Heart Nebula (see Steve’s image “The IC 1805 Region”). The image consist of 63 x 5min lights taken with a Canon 60Da and a TPO RC astrograph on a Celestron CGM mount.
